Selling My Car via Carsome 🚗

Sold my 2010 car via Carsome.

The process was fast and stress-free, it was worth it!

I didn't have to go to Puspakom to get the B5 inspection, run ads, answer calls / enquiries, or host multiple meet ups with strangers for test drives.

First, I scheduled an appointment with Carsome online, and arrived on time on the day of the appointment for the car inspection which took about an hour. You need to bring your vehicle ownership registration card (geran), road tax copy, IC and spare car keys for the inspection. (In my case, the car was no longer under a loan)

I washed the car, pumped the tyres and ensured all personal belongings were cleared out beforehand so the car was in tip top condition during the inspection, having been recently serviced too.

After the car inspection, they quote an offer price for the car, and you have to confirm whether to accept the offer within 24 hours. If you are not satisfied with the offer, you can opt for online bidding (which comes with a slightly higher handling fee). You can choose not to proceed if the bidded price is still unsatisfactory, but you can no longer accept the initial direct offer from Carsome.

On the same day, I also did an inspection with Carro (f.k.a MyTukar) to get a comparison quote. I negotiated with both platforms to get the best deal, and eventually I decided to go with Carsome.

I handed in the car the following morning, e-signed the offer letter from Carsome, did the thumbprint, received the ownership transfer copy via email, and received the full payment by afternoon.

Make sure the amount stated on the Carsome offer letter matches the agreed price.

Next step, I applied for the refund of my unexpired vehicle insurance premium

and unexpired road tax.

For road tax refund, you have to go to JPJ.

Things to bring:

• IC copy

• Road tax receipt

• Confirmation of ownership transfer

• 1st page of your bank statement (showing bank account details & active transactions)

• Form JPJ K6 (Pindaan 1/2018) - you can fill in this form at JPJ too.

I went to JPJ @ UTC Pudu Sentral by LRT.

UTC Pudu Sentral operates every day including Sundays.

If you're taking LRT, you can exit at Plaza Rakyat station.

After coming out of the station, follow the signage to UTC, until you reach the junction as shown in the picture. Follow the red arrow to head to UTC.

JPJ is located at Level 2, UTC Pudu Sentral.

You will need to download the JPJeQ app to scan a QR code at JPJ to get a queue number. From the app, you can monitor your queue position, how many people are ahead of you and the estimated time until your turn, so you don't have to sit there continuously watching the queue display screen.

When I arrived at 9am, the app was already showing there were 73 people ahead of me, with an estimated wait time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

So I went to grab some breakfast while waiting for my turn.

There's a food court at UTC building, but only 4 stalls were open.

I went to Teedo Hotel for their RM15 breakfast buffet instead, with aircond & jazz music.

 

Even though there's no meat served here, it's still quite worth it, as you can go for unlimited refills, and the food actually tasted not bad here.

JPJeQ app update: Finally my turn soon!

Settled my application. JPJ officer informed me that the refund will take about 3 to 6 months.

Honestly, it's not worth going all the way just to get the refund.

But at least I have a reason to take the LRT which is only 5-mins walk from my home, understand the refund process, get to experience JPJ's improved digital system, and explore abit of Pudu Sentral.

I remember Pudu Sentral used to be a bustling bus terminal, full of businesses catering to bus passengers.

The state of Pudu Sentral now is just so quiet and empty...

Trapped, But Not Hopeless

30/9/2026 : Behind the trapped door

In a dark store room...

The last time I checked my phone, it was about 5.30pm. In a vacant house, I went to the storeroom to check on the door. There was no light in the storeroom, so I brought in a portable lamp.

The next thing I knew, I had accidentally locked myself in after testing the doorknob and shutting the door that couldn't be opened from the inside...

I didn't have my phone with me to call for help. I tried searching if there was any gap under the staircase I could escape through, but the opening was too small for me to squeeze through.

I was calm at first, but after trying to open the door multiple times to no avail, I started to panic and kept trying to force it open until I exhausted myself.

At one point, I just sat on the floor, sweating and trying to think.

I thought to myself, I should:

- just sit here and wait until night, hoping my husband will come looking for me after realizing i'm not home yet

- turn off the lamp before the battery runs out so that I can still use it when the room gets pitch black later at night.

- conserve my energy so I don't end up too dehydrated, hungry or suffocated by the stuffy room.

It was depressing sitting on the floor in that dark room, not knowing what to do while carrying a little one inside me. So I prayed...

Once I calmed down, I took the metal key, improvised it, and managed to unscrew and loosen the doorknob! Next, I'm OUT!

The moment I stepped out from that dark depressing store room, I walk out as an Overcomer, who had just conquered a challenging trapped situation.

I reached for my phone to update my husband on what had happened, and that's when I realized I had been trapped inside for over an hour!

I'm so glad hubby came all the way to be with me. I was also relieved to find my belongings still in the living hall, as anyone could have walked in and taken them, as I had left the inner door wide open! And on the bright side, I'm now an expert at removing & installing doorknob locks! :)

Trapped behind the door, these were the only things I had with me:

A portable lamp, car keys in my pocket, a metal key on the floor, and Prayer - as my weapon.

That night, I realized:

I can still find strength in the lowest valley, 
as long as I hold onto Hope.
