Hope this guide helps new moms in their pregnancy journey! :)
Once you have confirmed you are conceived, you can start registering your pregnancy at a government health clinic - Klinik Kesihatan (KK). Under this healthcare initiative, mothers and children receive free healthcare services until the child reaches 6 years old, as well as free multivitamins.
※ Note: you can only register at the KK in your residential district (rather than the nearest KK or address on your MyKad).

1st Visit: Registering & Opening Your Pink Book (Buku Pink)
What to bring:
- MyKad
- Utility bill registered under your name (as proof of residence)
- Pregnancy test confirmation / a sonogram photo (if got)
Reaching there early is key as KK has limited parking, and queue usually starts forming when nearing 7.30am.
Each visit to KK, you have to scan a QR code to check-in using your MySejahtera app,
The KK enquiry counter opens at 8am, you can inform the nurse at the counter that you want to open your Buku Pink. You will be given a form to fill out and submit. Once submitted, wait for your name to be called to receive your next appointment date. The entire first visit takes about 1 hour.

2nd Visit: Comprehensive First Health Checkup
On your second visit to KK, you will receive your physical Buku Pink along with a queue number. The nurse will direct you on where to go next.
Whenever you reach an assigned counter or room, place your Buku Pink in the designated basket and wait for your name or queue number to be called.
When a nurse hands you a paper cup, head to the nearest washroom to provide a urine sample, then submit it to the collection counter near the toilet.
What to Expect During This 2nd Visit:
• Blood test
• Weight measurement
• Urine test
• Dental checkup
• Doctor's consultation & ultrasound
• Collection of free multivitamins

3rd Visit: Air Gula Test (MGTT)
What is Ujian Minum Air Gula / MGTT (Modified Glucose Tolerance Test)?
This test checks how effectively your body processes sugar to screen for gestational diabetes, a condition that commonly develops during pregnancy.
• You must fast starting from 10pm the night before your Air Gula test.
• Arrive by 7.30am, tell the nurse you're taking the Air Gula test.
• Place your Buku Pink at the designated room, and wait to be called for your initial blood draw and to drink the glucose solution.
• Notify the nurse after finishing the glucose drink so they can record the exact timestamp. You will then need to fast for another 2 hours before your second blood draw.
• Submit a urine sample
※ Note: If you vomit (even a little) after drinking the glucose solution, inform the nurse. Vomiting invalidates the test results, and you will need to reschedule the Air Gula test for another day.

As your pregnancy progresses, you will be required to update your KK about which hospital you will be delivering.
If you plan to deliver at a government hospital, but prefer private-patient perks (such as choosing your specialist and enjoying upgraded ward amenities), you can look into registering for the Full Paying Patient (FPP) program.

Always carry your Buku Pink with you. In case of an emergency (eg. bleeding), go to the nearest healthcare facility immediately — the Buku Pink will help the medical staff quickly understand know your maternal health history.
Hope new moms find this guide helpful! :)
